The Grand Rapids Minnesota Area

Named after the 3.5 miles of rapids on the Mississippi, Grand Rapids Minnesota is a stunning place. The town is quaint and big enough to have everything you need but once you head out of town it’s cabin or RV Paradise.

Grand Rapids Minnesota offers the true Northern Minnesotan Life. Absolutely gorgeous area in and out of the town, world-class fishing, Minnesota Nice people and fun accents. Here’s a few reasons why people love spending time in Grand Rapids Minnesota…
Scenic Beauty
Grand Rapids is surrounded by stunning natural landscapes, including forests, lakes, and rivers. Exploring the area in an RV allows you to immerse yourself in the beauty of Minnesota’s Northwoods and enjoy breathtaking views right from your doorstep.

Outdoor Activities
The region offers a plethora of outdoor activities for RV enthusiasts. You can go fishing, boating, kayaking, or canoeing in the numerous lakes and rivers.
Many of the lakes are crystal clear. It’s a thrill to see rocks that look shallow but you know they’re not as you cruise the lake.
Hiking, biking, and birdwatching are also popular activities, with several trails and parks to explore.

Hiking in the Forest
There are lots of hiking and biking trails up in this area. Including the famous “lost 40” hiking spot which is a MUST.
Local parks and state forest land offer some incredible trails that go deep in the woods. We also enjoyed hiking around at the resort.
Wildlife Watching
Oh Deer! Grand Rapids is known for its abundant wildlife. From moose and deer to bald eagles and loons, there are plenty of opportunities to observe and appreciate nature’s wonders up close. It’s a popular area for hunting.
Resort and Camping Options

The area provides a variety of RV-friendly campgrounds and parks, offering amenities such as full hookups, picnic areas, and fire pits. The Resorts range from rustic to luxury. Many of these campgrounds & resorts are located near lakes or rivers, providing a serene and picturesque setting for your stay.
The Pine Ridge Resort is a slam dunk as far as lake vacations go. Your cabin is so close to the water the loons might scare you at night.

Cultural Attractions
Grand Rapids is not only known for its natural beauty but also for its vibrant arts and culture scene. You can visit art galleries, museums, and theaters showcasing local talent and heritage. The town also hosts various festivals and events throughout the year, offering a taste of the local culture.
Relaxation and Tranquility
One of the greatest joys of RV travel is the freedom to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Grand Rapids provides a peaceful with nature, and enjoy quality time with loved ones.
Deer Lake just 20 min outside of town is one of the top 5 Clearest Lakes in the USA. My pictures and words don’t do it justice. You can see the rocks as if they’re just below the surface but they’re many ft down. This lake and the entire area has incredible fishing and countless lakes.
The view and crackling of the campfire with our rustic cabin at the lake with the Northern Lights in the background while the loons were calling was a piece of paradise that doesn’t come often. We’ve all seen perfect images in magazines and wondered “is that really like that” and with Deer Lake at the Pineridge Resort it is.

Golfing
If you enjoy golfing, Grand Rapids boasts several well-maintained golf courses. Teeing off amidst the scenic backdrop of forests and lakes can make for a memorable golfing experience.
Northern Lights
Check the Norther Lights forecast when you come as they really pop when you’re this far North in Minnesota.

At the Pineridge Resort you can rent a boat to head out and enjoy this bucket list lake. The kayaks, canoes, paddleboards and other water toys are free to use at your leisure.
It’s actually a fairly deep lake and divers enjoy coming to such a clear, deep lake for a diving challenge.

Kayaker’s Paradise
Kayaking was especially great up here because it’s so clear that you want to be able to sneak up on the fish. It’s always fun getting the big one and having it become your trolling motor.
This lake is often referred to as “like the caribean” and called “the lake of the changing colors”.
It was wild how one second the lake would be silver, then blue, then green, and would change colors wildly in an instant. I couldn’t take my eyes off it and especially on the days that had big cumulus clouds.

If you’re looking for the famous “Up North” experience, this place is the real thing. Lots of trees, lots of wildlife, lots of shoreline.
