A Scenic Celebration in Taylor’s Falls

As a kid I grew up skiing in this area. I’ll never forget one time when I was in 4th grade I was called to the office at school. When I got there I was surprised to see my dad was there, he told me to get my stuff cause he was pulling me out for the day to go skiing at Wild Mountain! I was so excited, I can remember it like it was yesterday!
Taylors Falls is right on the Minnesota-Wisconsin border. The St. Croix River cuts between the 2 states. We went there with my parents to celebrate their 35th Wedding Anniversary.
Coming into town we stopped at the famous “Drive In” that makes their own Root Beer. They give you a big frozen mug of Root Beer. The cheese curds were absolutely incredible!
We went to Interstate State Park to do some hiking and climbing around. This is such a scenic state park. It’s got very easy trails that give you excellent views of the river.
My dad was teaching my nephew Allister some climbing lessons.
Scenic boat tours take you up and down the river. They have sunset supper cruises put on by wild mountain.
There were quite a few rock climbers, some doing bouldering and many roped up doing very technical routes.
You can rent a canoe and paddle down river, then a bus takes you back up to the start.
It was nice to relax and watch the boats go by. The best part of the day was to spend the day with family. Congratulations to my parents for 35 years of marriage. They are a great example and I’m happy to be their son.
