The Adventures at Cape Henlopen

Wow, Cape Henlopen State Park is a hidden gem! Located at the edge of Delaware staring at New Jersey this beautiful State Park has everything you need to get away whether it’s quiet camping, surfing at Herring Point, Biking near Gordon’s Pond, exploring the ww2 history at Fort Miles, or just relaxing on the Beach watching the Dolphins play near the Lighthouse.
One of the first things that stands out when you visit Cape Henlopen is the WW2 Towers. I climbed up the inside of this tower and the views from above were breathtaking. These pictures don’t do it justice, you could see the entire Cape!
There is a good amount of wildlife. It’s in the path of the birds flying south. I had to stop for this turtle to cross the road and within 15 feet of where the turtle was I saw all these deer across the field. Cape Henlopen has great fishing. I thought it was really cool to see the fishing poles held on the front grill of this truck on it’s way out to the beach.
There are 2 lighthouses in Cape Henlopen that protect the ships coming in to the Delaware Bay at Lewes.
The biking trails are in excellent shape and they go all around Cape Henlopen. You can beach hop via bike.
Although they have surfing at Herring Point, most of Cape Henlopen is a shore break which is great for skimboarders.
