RV Activity: Beaching and Boating in St Pete

When I hear the word RV, I think of adventure and opportunity. Adventure because you can live out your dreams, opportunity to grow and experience new or interesting things. I can’t imagine a more adventurous opportunity than to take day trips while RVing in Florida to rent a boat and hit the beach!
We were staying at the Thousand Trails Orlando RV Resort just over an hour from St Petersburg, FL. Danielle’s brother David and friend Pat were in town from Maryland for David’s Birthday and we wanted to show him a good time. We took a boat out of the Bay from Lottoboat which is one of the top Boat, Jet Ski and Paddleboard rental businesses in the Tampa Area. They took great care of us and made sure the boat was in perfect shape for us to enjoy. There was a large variety of boats but we were going to do some fishing so we took out a fishing boat.
When we were first leaving the channel I thought the name of this huge boat was fitting for us to notice, RV Weatherbird.
Shortly after getting on the boat Danielle got hungry so we pulled up restaurants on our phone that had dock parking. We had a lot of options and ended up choosing a neat little place where we pulled right up, grabbed our food and took off back to the open ocean.
Dolphins are all over these waters. We had a pod come right up to our boat, swim underneath us and splashed around.
There were a few other boaters but not a lot of traffic.
One of the highlights was seeing the Sunshine Skyway Bridge from the water. Travel Channel rates this as the 3rd best bridge in the world.
We explored a few islands off the Coast and then headed over to Fort Desoto Island. We could see campers at the RV Park enjoying themselves. This is absolute paradise, I couldn’t think of a more scenic location to enjoy my day!
Then David and Danielle did a little bit of fishing.
On our way back we had a cool view of Downtown St Pete from the water.
The next day was the Beach Day. We headed to St Pete Beach and Jimmy B’s Beach Bar. This place is consistently rated one of the top beach locations in the world and we have to agree. It was a little windy and rained a little so the pictures don’t do this place justice.
