RV Bucket List: The #1 Beach in the USA

Trip Advisor ranked Siesta Key Beach the #1 Beach in America in 2015. We wanted to find out why so on a recent RV Trip to Florida we headed over to this unique beach. Danielle’s parents were visiting so they joined us on the adventure.
Siesta Key is an 8 miles barrier island on the Gulf of Mexico. It has everything you could want in a beach experience. There are multiple free parking lots however they fill up quickly so plan on getting to the beach by 9 on the weekend or you might have to walk a few blocks. From the parking lot, it’s just a short stroll to the beach down this beautiful path.
The most unique thing about this beach is the Sand. It’s over 99% quartz which means it feels like powder sugar and stays cool on your feet even in the hot Florida sun.
The water color is so incredible!
With Danielle being pregnant, she bought some “special” sunscreen. The only problem is that we couldn’t get it to absorb and she looked like a marshmallow all day.
We saw a lot of birds looking for a meal in the tide.
Danielle and her Mom headed out to float around. They just relaxed and enjoyed the day in the water.
I headed out snorkeling. There is a spot called “Point of Rocks” that is the best area for snorkeling at this beach.
This is a great place to build a sand castle!
We saw these guys catching fish all day long.
There was a group of people having a party in the water.
And some people chose to do nothing but relax.
After a day on the Beach we went to get a bite to eat at Gilligans Island Bar where we found something very unique! It’s an old camper van that they use to pass food through from the cooks to the servers!
Most of the restaurants in town had live music and we relaxed and enjoyed the tunes.
They even have street performers that played this beast!
The #1 Beach in the USA is a bold claim. After traveling 36 states in the past year this ranks as our top Beach! What about you? Have you been here, is there another beach that you feel is better? Share your comments below.
